As some of you may or may not know, it is Queen Elizabeth II 91st birthday coming up on the 21st April. In order to celebrate her birthday I thought that I would take us back to some of her most iconic outfits.
The royal wedding is one of the most popular events of the decade so the dress has a large role to fit. This beautiful high-neck, satin, heavily embroidered dress was designed by British designer Norman Hartnell. At the back of the dress was a 15 foot patterned train attached at the shoulders with a silk veil and tiara. The tiara was given to Elizabeth on her wedding day from her mother.
The Queens Coronation day is another popular event of the decade so this required a lot of preparation before the main event. A few days before the coronation, Queen Elizabeth II was spotted in this striking laced gown. The time and dedication spent on every inch of detail has set the bar high for the Coronation dress. This dress was also designed by what seems to be the Queens favourite designer Norman Hartnell.
The day of Queen Elizabeths II Coronation soon arrives and designer Norman Hartnell and herself have out done themselves with the magnificent choice of dress. The gold trimmed dress with gold details go hand in hand with the St. Edwards Crown. The crowns design is made of gold and includes many Sapphires, Tourmalines and other remarkable stones.
In 1999 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Her Majesty wore a very fitting gold silk dress with embroidery down both sides of the dress. She accessorised the dress by matching a rather large gold diamond necklace with two gold bracelets over the top of her pearl white gloves.
I hope you all have enjoyed my blog! Take style advice from Queen Elizabeth II and have a great time celebrating her birthday.
Hey everyone! Following on from my earlier blog about the differences between acrylic nails and silk wrap nails, I finally got a full set of silk wraps done. It’s safe to say that I am loving these nails and would 100% recommend them to the budding nail extension wearers.
They look completely natural where I had the tips shortened and it’s as if I have only got gel polish on my natural nails. I decided to go for the short nail look as this will make it a bit easier doing day-to-day tasks and help make them appear a bit more natural. Also having the length shorter will improve the strength of the nails as silk is a lot more fragile than acrylic so you have to be extremely careful with them. Don’t use your nails as tools!
Here’s a picture of my fabulous nails that I treated myself to!
I hope everyone that tries Silk nails loves the end result as much as I have.
It’s the time of year that the glamorous Cheltenham racecourse turns into a fashion show. From the 13th March to the 17th March you will be experiencing some spectacular horse racing at the Cheltenham Festival. Many race goers will be dressing up in their most glamorous outfits however there will be one day that people will be dressing in their finest clothes and that’s for the extravagant ladies day. The 15th March is when the fabulous event was held so lets take a look at some of the outfits that were displayed at the racecourse.
This group of ladies most definitely got the memo for big hats, high heels and bright colours, now this is what the ladies day festivals are all about. Some ladies like to go plain and some like the finer things in life, with the small details in the dress you will stand out from the crowd and surly draw the eyes of the many race goers.
These ladies have gone for the simple yet beautifully plain looking dresses. With the bold solid colours you are able to match any accessory with them. They are demonstrating this wonderfully with the heels, hats and jewellery. These ladies have a smart mind wearing thin jackets to keep the chilled air off them in spring time, even in the height of summer it’s always a good idea to take a thin jacket with you incase the typical British weather takes a turn for the worse.
This group of ladies are flaunting their outfits while showing that you can look good in whatever you wear and all it takes is a little bit of confidence. With the sun shining the rainbow of dresses marks the start of all the summer racing events while setting the bar high. The different array of outfits from skin tight to loose and flowing, everyone has one thing in common, their love of good fashion and horse racing.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog and ladies, so get your finest outfits out from the back of the wardrobe and attend Royal Ascot, Goodwood Festival and as well as many other racing events to put in your diaries!
Lets go back to a very special event that happened on Wednesday 1st March where the new Range Rover Velar was unveiled at the London Design Museum. This incredible event welcomed many celebrities such as Damian Lewis, Zara Tindall, Jimmy Carr and many more.
Zara Tindall is used to being in the paparazzi’s eye as the Queen’s granddaughter, as we well know, the royals love to dress to impress to these events! Here is the beautiful Zara wearing an all black outfit and doesn’t she look amazing. The silk top adds a bit of shine to the outfit, allowing her skin to glow in the perfect lighting. Those luscious closed-toe pointed heals with a thick band gives the perfect amount of height and glamour. From the feather sleeves to the pointed shoes, she really can work the all black look.
This English actor Damian Lewis appeared in many shows such as Homeland, Wolf Hall, Billions and here he is now hosting the release of the new Range Rover Velar. Mr Lewis is going for the smart casual look with the skinny fit jeans, blazer and scarf. This look is quite a popular outfit amongst the male gender as it is an easy look to achieve without looking too over dressed for an occasion. Very safe choice Mr Lewis!
Here are the hilarious comedians that are Rob Brydon and Jimmy Carr. Rob has gone for the very smart two piece blue suit with a red tie. You can’t go wrong with this neat impressive look.
While the wonderful Jimmy Carr has gone for a dark three piece suit with a light grey blazer. His shirt and tie are loosely done showing that he has a more relaxed approach to wearing a suit. Mr Carr usually goes for a neat look like in his show 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown where he wears a plush 2 or 3 piece suit. This is Mr Carr’s dress down event.
I hope this blog has helped prepare many of you for these incredible events. Happy blogging!
The Oscars are the most iconic film award ceremony held in Hollywood so all the celebrities from the film industry are looking stand out at this prestigious event.
Here is the beautiful Emma Stone in a custom made Givenchy dress. This incredible dress allows Emma to show off her figure while showing the right amount of skin. The golden glow off the dress is in the height of fashion at the minute and is the perfect outfit for accepting those golden awards.
Check out those ruffles and velvet bow tie on the very dreamy Ryan Gosling. Ryan appears to be going suave for the oscars this year as the phenomenal La La Land takes home 6 awards. With an outfit like this, it was almost as if he knew that La La Land was going to be receiving many awards!
Halle Berry’s beautiful dress caught the eyes of many viewers on the 26th February. The champagne frills at the bottom of the dress gives an amazing effect of confetti with a beautiful train at the back. The black wrap at the top of the dress breaks up the solid champagne colour and gives a bit of body to the dress. The sparkles on the dress really are the right theme for this glamorous event.
Emma Roberts wore a beautiful two tone frilled dress. The black and the cream are a great match but the definitive line between the two sections it up nicely. The layers at the bottom of the dress makes it flow and gives ultimate body. The upper section of the dress allows y0u to show off the amount of cleavage that you possess, it also allows you to have the amount of cleavage that you desire.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my insight of outfits at the Oscars 20717.
The festival season is fast approaching and through all the partying, you want an outfit that will keep you cool and fashionable. Shorts are a great way to keep yourself cool but when the traditional British summer arrives and the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worst, you’ll have to throw on those wellies and then that look isn’t so fashionable anymore! However in some cases this look is allowed and seeing as this is the typical festival look, it is a great idea in this scenario. Festivals are known for being bright and colourful so dig out your brightest tops and go bright or go home! Bright bodypaint is another festival essential that is not to be missed so go crazy and splash that glitter paint.
Now do we have any girls with long hair? Then you may want to think of pinning it up, as you will get very hot and you will want to stay as cool as possible, plus no girl wants their hair to get all sweaty.
Here are a few ideas for some easy hair ups:
This style is a simple plait, you can do this to pretty much all types of hair and you don’t need much time or too many hair products. Overall this is great for festivals as it is an easy messy look.
You may also want to try a nice and simple bun, this allows you to get all your hair up and off of your skin so you can start dancing to that funky house number with your pals! Different styles of buns will take different amounts of time and may need different hair products, this means that you will either have to put it up into a messy bun or take the time and create a neat bun.
Hopefully I have given you some handy fashion tips so you can dance that summer festival away!
Choosing the right nail colour is a tricky business because you want to compliment your skin tone and style. Fairer skin tones look better with dark colours and darker skin tones look better with lighter colours. Now if you’re lucky enough to have an olive skin tone, you can get away with just about any colour of polish.
Some people may match their make up to their nail colour. You could match both your eye shadow or lipstick with a similar shade to your nail polish but it is important not to look too tacky with the exact same shade. Personally I wouldn’t match my make up to my nails but each individual knows what looks good on them.
Many stylists say that your nail colour should never match your outfit, while many other stylists say that your nails should match your outfit. When I go somewhere important I always make sure that my nails match my outfit. You can match them to a shade similar to a specific item that you’re wearing like your shoes or purse, I personally match my nails to my dresses that I wear. Trust your instincts when choosing your outfit and nail colour. Be considerate about the occasion that you’re attending. If you’re going to an important business meeting you don’t want to be having bright nails, I don’t think your colleague’s will appreciate your nails as much as you do. However if you’re going for a night out be daring and paint the town red.
Seasons play a big part when choosing the colour of your nails as don’t want your nails too bright or too bland for the season. During the summer months the weather is a lot hotter, the days are longer and the festival season is in full swing so always choose a bright colour to match. When Autumn approaches you want to start dulling down your nails and go for some oranges and browns to go with the colour of the leaves that as falling off the trees. During the harsh Winter months where the days are darker, you want to go for some dark and dull colours like dark reds and neutral colours. During the festive season your could also do Christmas themed nails. On the run up to Summer through Spring you want to start brightening back up your nails but not too bright as you always build up to the main event which so happens to be Summer.
I hope this advice helps for many of you and I look forward to seeing some peoples matching trends.
